I am Keli Engleson. A doula. A childbirth education instructor. A yoga instructor. A triathlete. I enjoy all things health and wellness related.
My sister and brother-in-law invited me to be present for the birth of my first niece in 2008. Seeing my niece take her first breath changed something inside of me. I look back at the experience as one of my fondest and life changing memories. Being present for the birth of my niece inspired me to learn more about the birthing process. I first enrolled in prenatal yoga teacher training and soon after trained to become a birth doula.
I found Hypnobabies three years ago after attending the birth of one of my clients who had a peaceful, calm and very enjoyable birth. I observed Karen Zamperini's 6 week Hypnobabies course and after attending the birth of a couple I met in her class, the number of Hypnobabies births I attended continued to grow. I've been so inspired by my experiences with Hypnobabies that I enrolled in Hypnobabies instructor training receiving my Hypnobabies instructor certification in 2015. My experiences with birthing moms and their partners who chose to birth using Hypnobabies has been so positive. I enjoy teaching Hypnobabies in Philadelphia and plan to offer classes soon on the Main Line, South Jersey and possibly Delaware. I have seen Hypnobabies result in a calmer and positive birthing experience for first time, second time, third time, and VBAC moms. I believe as a birth doula and childbirth education instructor that it is my role to provide the most up to date information, facts and tools about pregnancy and birthing to allow women and their partners to make the best decisions for themselves. I also recognize what is best for each person varies. I support the way women and their partners choose to birth.
I currently offer Philadelphia birth doula services,Hypnobabies classes, and prenatal yoga services. In addition to my work as a Philadelphia birth professional, I enjoy all things health and wellness related and can often be found practicing and teaching various disciplines of yoga, training for triathlon, volunteering, creating new recipes, blogging about health and wellness, and exploring new possibilities. In 2014 I raced my first two Ironman triathlons and in 2015 raced my fourth in the Ironman World Championship. The experience of training for and completing in an Ironman has been another life changing experience. I have found so many parallels between birthing and triathlon. Triathlon reminds me to never give up, to believe in myself and be open to making things happen. Knowing that some of the best things in life require preparation, training, do not happen overnight, but they are worth it. Yoga also plays a big role in my every day life. I am grateful for my doula clients, childbirth education and yoga students because I am always learning as both a practitioner and teacher. I look forward to sharing Hypnobabies with of my students in class.
Wishing you a peaceful and joyful birthing.
